Alhambra Declaration on Open Access
The consortia of libraries of Southern European Libraries Link (SELL) that represents consortia of libraries from Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, Turkey and Spain has prepared reports on the situation of Open Access in each of their countries, concerning information, electronic resources, management, etc. These reports are a first step towards offering the basis to establish common policies of action in terms of Open Access, especially how it affects the diffusion process of scientific information. |

ICM, Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling, University of Warsaw, launched a new program financed by the Ministry of Science and Higher education in Poland – Springer Open Choice/Open Access in Poland. Starting from June 2010 the conditions of the national license for Springer journals operated by ICM allow all researchers and students from Polish higher education and research institutions to publish their articles in Open Access via Springer Open Choice program. Choosing open access means making a journal article freely available to everyone and everywhere, authors are not required to transfer their copyright and the Ministry of Science and Higher education covers open access publication fees.

The SOAP Project (*), funded by the European Commission, would like to announce the release of an online survey to assess researchers' experiences with open access publishing. This survey aims to inform the most comprehensive analysis of ttitudes to open access publishing to date and is seeking views from a wide a range of interested parties. It is primarily aimed at active researchers in public and private organizations, from all fields of the research in the sciences and humanities and focuses on publication of research articles in (open access) peer-reviewed journals.
